Obesity is the most prevalent, fatal, chronic, relapsing disorder of the 21st century. Obesity is a leading factor driving the rate of mortality, morbidity, disability, healthcare utilization and healthcare costs, especially in the United States. Current scientific thought relates the explosion of obesity (witnessed over the last 30-40 years) to Metabolic Syndrome, a condition which also includes Type 2 Diabetes, Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure or Hypertension, Inflammation, and Fatty Liver Disease. As a whole, Metabolic Syndrome can be closely related to over consumption of processed foods, especially those containing fructose and/or those high on the glycemic index.

Detoxification

As we all attempt to live healthier lifestyles, escaping from toxins seems to be nearly impossible. We encounter toxins on a daily basis- we eat, breathe and track toxins into our homes without knowing where they will end up or what damage they will cause. Toxins result from numerous internal and external sources such as the accumulations of wastes, environmental pollutants and medications.

Our bodies are constantly regenerating new cells to maintain good health. The body cleanses itself by releasing toxins through the skin, lungs, kidneys, liver, and colon. If the body cannot properly release these toxins through one of these organs then the other organs must work harder ultimately leading the body towards a state of imbalance. Detoxifying or cleansing the body’s cells, tissues, organs and blood can help protect us from disease and renew our ability to maintain optimum health!
